Shortly after nine o’clock Monday morning, a fast moving fire along the Holmes-Walton county line destroyed a poultry house and threatened another.
Firefighters from across both counties responded to the fire just outside of Ponce De Leon.
Their objective was to keep the fire from reaching more than 400 gallons of diesel fuel and other flammable material.
Poultry house owner Roger White immediately thought about the fuel inside and the potential for loss of life and property.
Firefighters from across both counties successfully contained and extinguished the blaze.
The blaze destroyed several vehicles and tractors located inside the house.
The Florida Fire Marshal’s Office will sift through the destroyed house to determine a cause.
