Panama City- It was a packed house Sunday at the Marina Civic Center in Panama City for Florida State University Panama City's graduation ceremony.

Around 225 men and women were there to walk across the stage and accept their diplomas. Of the more than 400 degrees earned this school year, close to 370 were bachelor's, 54 were master's.

In total since the satellite campus opened in 1982, the school has graduated around 6,000 students and conferred about 7,000 degrees.

For one newly grad, Sunday was a long time coming.

"For me this day has been ten years in the making. I graduated high school ten years ago this May actually and I had to take a lot of time off of college in between then and now to actually work full-time so I could save up," said FSU PC graduate Laura Rakas.

Even though it's a satellite campus, the degrees at FSU PC count just the same as if the students earned them at the main campus in Tallahassee.
