A 16 year-old Washington County youth was injured in a hunting incident south of Vernon on Sunday.
Andrea Hope Wright, of Vernon was getting on a four wheeler about 10 a.m. to go deer hunting when her 12 gauge shotgun discharged, striking her in the right leg.
An uncle who was nearby came to her aid. Andrea was life flighted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola and underwent surgery later Sunday. Her condition is unknown at this time.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the hunting incident.
