Husfelt Named to Red-Tape Panel by Governor

Updated: Wed 10:22 PM, Sep 19, 2012

Governor Rick Scott named seven county school superintendents to tackle the task of recommending ways Florida can cut red-tape and reduce paperwork for teachers and administrators.

Bay District Schools Superintendent William Husfelt is one of the seven.

The committee will make recommendations to Scott within 30 days. The governor entered office last year promising to cut state regulations on business. Now he wants to do the same for schools.

Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart said in a press release that she is looking forward to continuing to work with the Governor and school leaders to support learning and increase student achievement. She adds that open communication leads to productive conversation and hopes this group will put a spotlight on the important priorities of the state’s education system.

The six other county superintendents named to the committee are Broward, Charlotte, Highlands, Orange, St. Johns, and Volusia County.
