PANAMA CITY 90 year old Hy Wakstein died this morning.
Wakstein opened Hy's Toggery in Panama City in 1969. He was a World War II veteran who was often asked to speak about his memories of the Battle of the Bulge.
Wakstein also has unforgettable memories of being a 21 year old solider and walking in the Buchenwald Concentration Camp to help liberate the prisoners. He found out later that 22 members of his own family did not survive the concentration camps.
Wakstein was instrumental in starting the first Synagogue in Bay County.
