Two pet-food giants have issued a voluntary recall of its dry dog and cat food products because of possible salmonella contamination.
According to the US Food and Drug Administration, Iams and Eukanuba products were distributed to retail outlets across the US.
Both are made by Procter & Gamble.
Salmonella can sicken animals eating the products.
There's also risk to humans who handle tainted pet foods, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the food or any surfaces exposed to the products.
According to P&G, the recall is a precautionary measure and effects food distributed in states on the east and gulf coasts.
If you believe your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.
