Reece Forehand was arrested last summer and charged with burglary and two counts of grand theft. Now he'll be facing new charges after confessing to stealing a gun from a judge's office and hiding it in an attic area above the Gulf County Jail.
According to the police report, Forehand said he would leave his prison cell through a hole in the floor. He would then climb into an airduct and go through a hallway which connects the jail and the courthouse. According to police, Forehand admitted to doing this on three separate occasions.
Forehand admitted to stealing "loose change" from the judge's draw to get candy and watching pornography on the computer.
After being transferred to the Franklin County Jail, Forehand requested to speak to investigators. In that conversation he admitted to stealing a gun from the judge's office and hiding it in an attic space in the jail.
Police went in and recovered the gun, later identifying it as the judge's property.
The State Attorney's Office has said that it will be changing Forehand's burglary charge to armed burglary as well as filing a new charge for grand theft of a firearm.
