Bay County sheriff's deputies were back at Bay Point investigating what appears to be a series of cat mutilations and trying to determine if it was done by animals or the human hand.

Investigators were searching a home on Wahoo Road Tuesday afternoon, the same street where Bay Point security found the first cat September 1.

A resident took pictures, but security disposed of the cat which authorities say hindered the investigation.

Bay Point security found the back half of a second cat around 6:30 yesterday morning in the middle of Pompano Road, this time preserving it and the remains of the cat will be given to experts to determine if the cat was mutilated by an animal or a person. Residents are worried, noting there are more cats missing.

Sheriff's officials say their investigation is ongoing. If you have any information on this case, you're urged to call the sheriff's office at (850) 747-4700.
