Jackson Chamber Exec Retires

Some changes are on the way for the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. Chamber President Art Kimbrough has announced his retirement after a decade in the position.

Kimbrough gave the news during the chambers monthly "First Friday Breakfast" community meeting.

This is the latest in a string of changes for the chamber in the past year. That includes taking the organization out of tourism and into politics and putting the historic Russ House up for sale.

Those changes have prompted some to wonder if that's what spurred Kimbrough's retirement. So, we asked him.

"Absolutely not. I became Medicare eligible, I'm 65 years old. I've got other interest, I've got an investment company of my own that Im working in and I need to nurture and grow and do so no, not at all. I could have left a year ago and avoided all the pain and agony and controversy right here."

Kimbroughs last day on the job is April 5th.
