JACKSON COUNTY-- June is Men's Health Month and a local hospital is partnering with the Men's Health Network to help raise awareness about prostate cancer.
Jackson Hospital in Marianna is hoping to get men thinking about preventative measures such as regular screenings. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death for men, behind lung cancer.
According to the Men's Health Network, more than 230,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. Close to 30,000 die from it.
Hospital officials hope this campaign will urge men to think about their health all year round.
"We wanna be mainstream with everything we're doing. Women's health, men's health to promote it at all times, but particularly during the awareness month. Just to kinda get people to come to the doctor and get routine screenings before they get sick."
