James Tipler Convicted

An Okaloosa County jury found 61-year old James Harvey Tipler guilty Tuesday on 2-counts of solicitation to commit murder. He was acquitted on a 3rd count of the same charge.

Tipler tried to hire fellow inmates in the Okaloosa County Jail, to kill Assistant State Attorney Russ Edgar. At the time Tipler was awaiting trial on charges of racketeering, theft and practicing law without a license. That trial now scheduled for June.

The Florida Supreme Court disbarred Tipler in 2009 for incidents like this, caught by Bay County sheriffs investigators back in 2001.

Tipler told an 18-year old Panama City woman he'd deduct 200-dollars from her legal bill each time she, or any of her friends, had sex with him.

The judge has not set a sentencing date on Tuesday's conviction. Tipler faces 30-years for each of the 2-counts.
