Job Fair Brings 1,400 Jobs to Lynn Haven

General Dynamics is trying to hire more than 1,000 people through the Workforce Center to work at their new call center at the Lynn Haven industrial park. The Workforce Center is helping fill the need for customer service representatives, managers, supervisors and more.

For people like Michelle Bailey, Tuesday's job fair at the Workforce Center is a blessing. "Any position available. I've been in customer service for 28 years, over 28 years, so this is very a great opportunity."

Michelle lost her job at the end of June due to cut backs, but Monday she was confident that this position will be a step in the right direction. Officials with the Workforce Center agree.

"I think this is gonna be a huge job fair just because the quantity of jobs that are associated with this job fair and the short time frame that they're trying to get everyone hired," said Maria Goodwin with the Workforce Center.

And Goodwin says the timing of these job openings, and the job fair, couldn't be better.

"It's coming at a time when our tourism season is winding down and coming to an end so these are going to be some stable jobs that are year round."

The first of the job fairs will take place Tuesday from noon to 5 pm at the Workforce Center offices on Highway 231.

They'll be followed by more job fairs every Monday from 9 am to 1 pm and on Tuesdays from noon to 5 pm until the end of August.

For those like Michelle, the opportunity is certainly good news, "when one door closes, another one always opens up."

Workforce officials say residents should bring your resume and dress for job interviews. If those interested in the job can't attend the job fairs, log on to to register and apply for the positions.
