Jury Deliberates 16 Minutes in Local Felony Trial

PANAMA CITY, Fla. A Bay County jury deliberated just 16 minutes Friday before convicting Typhrus McNeil of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence.

McNeil was a passenger in a car that ran a stop sign near Massalina Apartments the night of May 13. A Panama City police officer saw the traffic infraction and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The car finally stopped in a parking lot near 15th Street where McNeil exited the car and ran. Several officers gave chase and eventually located him hiding under a car. McNeil then
fought in an attempt to escape, injuring two officers in the fray.

It was discovered that McNeil, 37, of 6303 Boatrace Road, had outstanding felony warrants.

McNeil faces up to 10 years in prison when Circuit Judge Michael Overstreet sentences him Feb. 4.
