Local animal lovers raised some much-needed funds Saturday night to help out man's best friend. Animal Rescue Center of Bay County hosted its 5th annual "Step to the Rescue" charity dance in downtown Panama City.
Organizers hoped for at least one hundred people to show up. In years past, they said they raised up to $4,000. There was great food, wine tasting, a silent auction, and of course dancing.
Animal Rescue Co-Director Charles Cromer said local cooperative efforts like this are what keep their doors open.
"It really feels good. It lets you know you're actually reaching the community and that you've got that support," said Cromer.
Animal Rescue Center of Bay County started in 2006 and is completely volunteer-based. If you'd like to donate or find out other ways you can help, click on this link- adoptbay.com
