A Georgia doctor, with offices in Panama City, is going to prison for the next 3 years.
A federal judge sentenced 61 year old Dr. Robert Sperrazza Monday to 36 months in prison and ordered him to forfeit $870,000 to the government.
A jury convicted Sperrazza last July on 3 counts of tax evasion and 2 counts of currency structuring, which is making cash transactions under $10,000 to avoid them being reported to internal revenue service.
Sperrazza personally cashed more than one million dollars in patient checks at Georgia banks to keep from reporting the income of his anesthesiologist' practice in Albany, Georgia.
He failed to report $900,000 of income from 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Sperrazza later moved to Panama City Beach where he briefly operated a pain clinic at the promenade mall on Front Beach Road.
Bay County Sheriff's Investigators raided that office 4 months later.
Sperrazza currently lives in Panama City Beach
