The Bay County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35 year old Jeremiah Beazley after a narcotics investigator observed a drug transaction on Thursday in the parking lot of a convenience store on Front Beach Road.
When the investigator attempted to apprehend the man, he struggled with the investigator and then fled on foot. As the investigator pursued, he saw the suspect throw something in a ditch. The package was later recovered and proved to be a large amount of prescription pills. Beazley was caught a few blocks away.
From the package Beazley attempted to discard while fleeing, investigators recovered over 700 prescription pills consisting mostly of oxycodone and hydromorphone. Possession of pills in this amount carries a minimum mandatory prison sentence of 25 years.
Beazley was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence, resisting an officer with violence, resisting an officer without violence, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, trafficking in hydromorphone, and trafficking in oxycodone.
