PANAMA CITY- A Hand Up International Inc. is helping thousands in the community through food banks, school programs and a mobile food pantry ministry.
"We're here to serve the community, so it's really important to have that community support," said Jeanette Best, A Hand Up International Inc. Co-Founder.
The non-profit has been serving Bay County for many years.
Their backpack program has been successful in feeding families.
"We provide a gap, a crucial gap for people in this community, serving over 40,000 people with food,” said Best.
So far they've handed out 30,000 backpacks filled with food.
And through the food bank, they've helped thousands more.
"They cry, they hug us, they call us angels and we're so humble because food is such a basic need. Yet, so many people struggle with it every day,” said Best.
The organization held their 52 mobile food pantry ministry last week.
They will be expanding to a new location and are asking locals for help.
