PANAMA CITY BEACH- They're usually out helping people buy or sell homes, but Thursday a group of local realtors set some time aside to help children in need. Keller Williams offices nationwide are participating in RED Day, which stands for renew, energize, and donate. It's a day of investing in the community they work and live in.
The Panama City Beach office chose to volunteer their time compiling food for the Backpack Blessings program. Backpack Blessings sends in-need Pre-K and elementary school children home with a backpack full of food for the weekend, since they may not have anything to eat otherwise. The program helps more than 250 children in Panama City Beach, and many more in town.
RED Day is also about spreading awareness. "For what you can go buy a hamburger for lunch, you can feed a child for a weekend. And that is our goal, just to remind everyone that hamburger, if you skip it, you could feed a child for a whole weekend," said Keller Williams Team Leader Ellie Stafford.
Keller Williams also presented a $2,000 check to the Backpack Blessings program. If you'd like to make a donation, you can do so at their offices.
