A Bay District School Board member will serve on a new committee formed by the governor to help pay for early learning programs.
Steve Moss was nominated by Representative Jimmy Patronis' office.
The committee is called the "School Readiness Funding Model working Group."
It's goal is to create a funding formula for programs like the early learning coalition and voluntary pre-kindergarten for the 2013 to 2014 school year.
"My son is in kindergarten but he was in VPK last year. So i know first hand not only as an elected official but as a parent of a former VPK student how important that program is and how important the funding is for that program," said Moss.
Moss is one of three who will represent the panhandle in the state wide committee. The committees first meeting will be in Tallahassee at the end of the month.
