Local Sexual Offender Headed Back to Prison Again

A Bay County jury Wednesday convicted Gregory LaVelle Andrews of lewd or lascivious conduct.

Andrews was released from prison in 2006, after spending five years in prison for kidnapping. He was accused, but acquitted, of another lewd or lascivious crime in 2011.

But this time, Assistant State Attorney Lauren Brudnicki showed jurors during the one-day trial that Andrews, 50, of 3930 Peters Dr., lured a 12-year-old girl into a bathroom during a slumber party and tried to get her to undress and take nude pictures of herself with her phone while he watched.

The girl asked to go get her phone, then ran from the residence screaming. She continued running to her house where she awoke her mother who called the police.

Circuit Judge Brantley Clark sentenced Andrews to six years in prison and designated him a sexual offender.
