DEFUNIAK SPRINGS - The Walton County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man they say beat and burned a cat.
The brutal crime allegedly happened September 5th at Shawn Ball’s home on Bob McCaskill Drive in DeFuniak Springs. Deputies say the 22-year-old beat a cat named “Pablo” with his hands, causing multiple contusions, hemorrhages and broken ribs. They say he also burned Pablo’s face, body and genitals. Deputies found Pablo’s body in a litter box in Ball’s house.
Thursday, investigators went to Ball’s home to serve an arrest warrant. Ball told them he needed to get his shoes. When he stepped inside, he ran out the back door. It took deputies and a K9 three hours to track him down.
Ball is charged with animal cruelty and resisting an officer without violence.
