Man Arrested For Impersonating An Officer

BAY COUNTY-- A Panama City Beach man is in the Bay County Jail, accused of impersonating the people who put him there.

Bay County Sheriff's Investigators arrested 35 year old Luke Eric Kirkland today, charging him with impersonating a law enforcement officer, false imprisonment, and felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

They say Kirkland pulled-up behind 3 people parked off the side of Pine Circle in West Bay Saturday night, turned-on some blue lights in his truck, and flashed a badge at them.

They say he claimed he was working undercover with the Bay County Sheriff's Office.

They say they then watch Kirkland pull-over a woman who'd just left a home on Pine Circle.

When they arrested Kirkland today, Sheriff's investigators say he had blue lights and a siren in his pick-up, a thin blue line tag on the front of the truck, handcuffs, a handgun, ammunition and a badge labeled "Fugitive Recovery Agent".

They also say Kirkland sometimes wore police uniforms.

They're asking anyone who may have encountered Kirkland playing cop to call them at 747-4700.
