TAMPA BAY - A baseball fan strikes out when he has too much to drink at a Tampa bay rays game.
During Tuesday night’s loss to the Boston Red Sox, police say Trevor Martin, from Needham, Massachusetts, twice reached over the railing at Tropicana Field and grabbed the Ray’s mascot, Raymond, around the neck. Each time, witnesses, including fans and several Tropicana Field employees, said Raymond had to push Martin off of him to break free.
The person inside the mascot costume chose not to file assault charges. But Martin was charged with disorderly intoxication. Police say he showed “several signs of impairment including slurred, mumbled speech; watery, bloodshot eyes; swaying while standing and staggering while walking and a moderate odor of alcohol on his breath.”
Police say Martin admitted to drinking two beers during the game.
