OKALOOSA COUNTY-- A man accused of killing his girlfriend's six month old child back in 2011 will be going to prison for the rest of his life.
An Okalossa County jury convicted Charles Lenear Colvin, Jr., of first degree felony murder Wednesday in the death of six month Xavier Boyd.
Colvin and the child's mother were staying at the Regency Inn Motel in Ft. Walton Beach on February 9, 2011.
The mother left the boy with Colvin while she and a friend went to a nail salon. Colvin beat Xavier, causing a skull fracture, internal bleeding and brain swelling. The baby died the next day at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Colvin fled the area and was arrested in Opp, Alabama a few weeks later.
Immediately after the guilty verdict, the judge sentenced colvin to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
