Man Posing As Okaloosa Deputy Attempting Phone Scam

CRESTVIEW, Fla. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office wants to warn the public of a phone scam involving a man claiming to be a Lieutenant with the agency.

He is telling people there is a warrant for their arrest and they need to send him money to clear it up. He has also set up a voicemail at a number with an 850-prefix, saying he is with the OCSO.

Our agency is investigating. At this point, it appears the bogus calls are being generated out of Gulf County.

Members of the public should not give this individual any personal information or money. They can report the scam by calling 850-651-7400.

Anyone with information on the individual responsible is also asked to call that number or Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 850-863-TIPS.
