Crestview -- A Mary Esther man is charged with a first degree misdemeanor for allowing his Pit Bull dog to attack a woman’s pet. The man’s Pit Bull had previously been declared and classified as a dangerous animal.

Okaloosa Sheriff’s Deputy Lori Yanna says 33-year old Jermaine Ellis Richardson of Mary Esther Drive is charged with crimes against person, attack by known dangerous dog.

According to deputies, one of Richardson’s neighbors says she was walking “Sophie,” her Border Collie mix, in a public park Monday, when Sophie was attacked by two unleashed dogs.

One of the dogs was Richardson’s Pit Bull, “Xion.” Xion had previously been declared “dangerous” by the Okaloosa Dangerous Dog Review Board on April 14, 2010.
