Mental Health Awareness Walk

BAY COUNTY-- Patients and workers at the Life Management Center of Northwest Florida participated in an annual event Wednesday.

But this year it took on some extra significance.

Each year Life Management stages a walk around the pond to celebrate mental health month.

Wednesday's walk was a double celebration because Life Management is also 60 years old this year.

Organizers say the walk helps create more public awareness for mental illness and how many people are unaware it can effect them.

"It's actually one in four people in their lifetime will experience a mental illness of some sort. But we feel like it's very important to make sure people are aware of mental health and able to talk about it so they can get help when they need help," Tricia Pearce said.

This year's mental health awareness theme is "Mind Your Mental Health."
