Mexico Beach City Manager Resigning From Position

MEXICO BEACH - Tuesday's Mexico Beach City Council meeting ended with a bit of a surprise.

After council members completed their agenda, City Manager Chris Hubbard quit.

Hubbard announced that he would be resigning from the position effective Friday, April 4th.

He says has turned turned down multiple job offers because he was loyal to Mexico Beach but he added that in recent months, he's grown tired of the accusations and verbal harassment from at least one city council member he did not name.

He says he prefers to focus on highlights over his seven and a half years of service.

"We've accomplished a lot of positive things here. Regardless of whether or not I leave I'm still gonna love Mexico Beach. I'm gonna keep a home here. I hope to be a part of this community. I'm gonna look back on my time here at Mexico Beach as something positive, and I'm looking forward to the future," Hubbard said.

Hubbard says he's taking a job in the private sector. Several council members praised Hubbard's service as City Manager.

They did not discuss the process to find his replacement.
