Mexico Beach will finally have its newest city clerk next month. The city council voted 4 to 1 last week to offer the job to 28 year old Adrain Welle to replace Sharon McGhee who abruptly resigned two months ago after only a month on the job.
McGhee was hired to replace Deborah McLeod who had quit because of tensions between herself and councilwoman Tanya Castro.
Welle was chosen over local Mexico Beach resident Christina Adams.
The council decided on Welle in previous weeks and Monday night’s meeting was to discuss his pay and moving expenses. His starting salary will be $50,000 and may increase after a 6 month probationary period and he was granted $3000 for moving expenses.
Welle is currently the City Clerk and Treasurer of a Minnesota town called Upsala and is on the city council in his hometown... He has already turned in his resignation.
Chris Hubbard, Mexico Beach City Manager, told the meeting Welle will start late next month. “Mr. Welle is gonna start here in the city of Mexico Beach on October 21st. Or at least that's when he offered to start. The city council approved that at tonight's meeting."
Welle also ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
