Mexico Beach adds to locally owned tradition with new restaurant

MEXICO BEACH, Fla (WJHG/WECP)- Mexico Beach is known for its locally owned businesses, and it is continuing that tradition with a new restaurant.

Castaway's Southern Cuisine is wrapping up their first week of operation and they are thanking customers for a successful start.

Donathan and Willie Fabie are brothers and executive chefs from south Georgia.

They say they fell in love with Mexico Beach on family trips.

So when the space opened up the brothers and their wives made the move and brought their southern cuisine to the Florida panhandle.

"We've had many people that come into the door and they're already friends, we know them by name and they're here everyday, explained Monica Fabie, co-owner of Castaways. "We're very appreciative and totally excited to be a part of the Mexico Beach family."
