From the outside, relatively new apartments in Lynn Haven seem to be a great find, but on the inside there's a different story to tell as residents deal with mold. For people living in the Pinnacle at Hammock Square apartments on Highway 77, what should have been a dream has turned into a nightmare.
"In my apartment we had a mold issue starting about two months ago," one resident, who asked to stay anonymous told us, and the rest of the stories are the same. Residents moved into the apartment complex when it opened last fall, but are now facing mildew and mold.
The developers say that a part of the problem is the "green" set up of the buildings. The air tight apartments pose a problem when the weather gets colder. "We've created an environment where no air can be exchanged in and out of the building unless it's done mechanically or if a resident opens a window," said Tim Wheat of Pinnacle Housing Group. "We generate humidity through our normal daily activities and all this activity, if not properly managed, you get...temperature variance between inside and outside and very quickly, if that humidity isn't pulled out of the unit, you can get mold."
Developers helped solve the problem for the resident that we spoke with, but others are still waiting for help. Either way, the hope is that soon, the problem will be solved and their apartments made safe.

I had mold issues in my apartment and the managers did not do a great job. They ignored my issues. I do not recommend this place to others. I disagree that the story has been exaggerated.
I had an issue and the developers did a great job immediately fixing the problem. My unit is great and I love living there. I think the story has been exaggerated. I highly recommend this place to others.
There's mold and mildew in Holly Hill apts in Marianna.A woman I met stayed in the apts, and she had mold and mildew growing in her bath room on the ceiling and walls. Around the windows,in the bedroom the condensation would puddle on the floor. The carpet would get wet. When the air conditioner was on, dust would blow out of the vents, and get on the ceiling because the ceiling would get damp, and this was in the living room. She complained to the land lord but never anything was done. They'd always say they was getting right on it.But nothing was done so they moved.
