CHIPLEY - Two of the three school districts, delayed by flooding, will start the school year Tuesday.
Washington County is the odd man out. A large number of roads, including bus routes, remain flooded from heavy rains over the weekend. So, students and teachers will get one more day of summer vacation. District officials are working with the Public Works Department to identify alternate bus routes in hopes of starting the school year.
Jackson and Holmes County, which were supposed to start Monday, will be open Tuesday.
Bay County schools will also start Tuesday as originally planned, except Hutchinson Beach Elementary. The school was damaged by flooding over the weekend. It will take a couple more days for crews to finish the unexpected repairs. Beach Elementary will start on Thursday.
