Mowat Middle Students Learning Internet Safety Tips

LYNN HAVEN - Mowat Middle School students are taking home some valuable internet safety tips.

Three groups of Mowat Middle students sat in their school's cafeteria to listen to cyber security expert Joe Bober. Bober is a certified information systems security professional.

Some of the suggestions he gave students include being cautious of the pictures they post online, careful when downloading music, and aware of sites filled with viruses.

"With the internet, with smartphones, you're connected 24/7 and these kids have got to know that somebody cares. They've got to know that they can go to a teacher, their principal, and their parents," said Bober.

Bober also talked with students about how they can stop cyber bullying. He referenced an incident where a 13 year old girl took her own life because of cyber bullying.
