Municipal Jobs in Walton County Shifting

One Walton County official is out of a job, and a second is expected to be gone later tonight.

Freeport City Council members voted Friday night to part ways with Fire Chief Ben Greenslait. They put Greenslait on leave in June when they discovered his state firefighter certification expired, before he became fire chief 4-years ago.

Greenslait failed to pass a rigorous recertification test in Ocala on Monday, so the council terminated him.

And it appears Defuniak Springs city officials will fire City Planner Greg Scoville tonight. The City Manager suspended Scoville without pay Friday after he refused to submit to a random drug test.

His status is on the agenda of tonight's city council meeting.
