Walton County Commissioners showed their appreciation to their Public Works department Thursday, treating all of the workers to lunch.
Commissioners say they want the employees to know they realize the hard work they perform.
They also say the entire department went above and beyond during the recent flooding.
"They have literally worked day and night to get people back into their homes, to make roads passable, to put the bridge up so people can pass on 30A,” said Commissioner Sara Comander. “These men and women work diligently, and they love what they do, number one, but I am always impressed with the heart in the job that they do."
Close to 350 people work in the Walton County Public Works Department.
