A new assisted living home is set to open in Panama City Beach next year, not only providing care but also 50 more jobs for the area. Groundbreaking ceremonies took place Monday afternoon for the Superior Residences of Panama City Beach. The facility will be located off Richard Jackson Boulevard near the Chamber of Commerce and behind the Comfort Suites Hotel.
It will be a three floor assisted living home and memory care center with 110 beds in 91 units. The assisted living section will allow residents to still have independence with nurses helping. The memory care section will have more specific care for Alzheimer's and dementia patients.
To become a resident, patients must be recommended by their doctor. Superior's President, Don Bishop, says they're happy to be finally getting underway in Panama City Beach, "It's in a great location, part of a great community here in Panama City Beach. Who doesn't love Panama City? Our facilities for the company are in North Florida. Our closest building is in Niceville. So, we've look at this area for a long time. We're able to come here and join together and put together this project."
Superior will offer specific care for veterans through the Veterans Assistance Program.
Construction should be completed by the end of 2014 with an opening date set in early 2015.
