New Connect System Woes

More than a week after a launch of a new online unemployment system in Florida, the state is still experiencing issues with the system.

According to the Department of Economic Opportunity the system is up and running, although there have been a number of issues with the new site.

Officials say the department was promised a working system by an outside company and say they are now working to resolve the issues.

Governor Rick Scott also addressed the new system.

Monica Russell with the Department of Economic Opportunity says, “We want to make sure everyone knows they will get every benefit they’re entitled to. We’re working tirelessly to make sure that happens for every single claimant out there. We understand this is difficult for a lot of them.”

Governor Rick Scott says, “The Department of Economic Opportunity is working very hard to make sure everyone can get on. There’s thousands using the system. So it’s clearly working.”

Issues with the CONNECT site come at the same time the federal government has been dealing with issues with the new Affordable Care Act’s website for people enrolling for insurance.
