New Emergency Alert System in Walton County

Walton County residents now have access to a new emergency alert system.

Residents wanting to stay aware of emergencies, accidents, or inclement weather can be notified via text, e-mail, or a phone call.

The Walton County Sheriff's Office has created a hyper reach notification system that county residents can register for to quickly receive alerts in emergency situations.

Walton County Public Information Officer Catherine Rodriguez says the system will be a helpful addition to the county.

"We just felt that this was a good awareness tool to notify the community more. Emergency services is having to do something in the community, whatever it may be so that we can also notify the public at the same time so their aware of what's going on," says Rodriguez.

The system is free and only takes seconds to register by logging on to and clicking the emergency notifications button.
