BAY COUNTY-- Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport officials say they are in discussions with a low cost air carrier.
Airport Director Parker McClellan confirmed today that the airport is in discussions with Jet Blue to begin providing a daily flight from Northwest Beaches International to JKF airport in New York City.
Jet Blue is considering launching the new service as part of its five year growth plan.
The airport is applying for a $400,000 federal grant from the Department of Transportation.
That, along with $350,000 in local funding will be the basis of a 1.8 million dollar incentive package to entice Jet Blue.
Most of the value comes from in kind services like waiving airport landing and gate fees and marketing.
The proposal is in the preliminary stages.
