County and state officials are trying to help locals interested in some money by car pooling.
Bay County and the Department of Transportation opened a Park and Ride lot Thursday morning on the corner of Highway 20 and 231. Residents can leave their vehicle in the lot, then share rides into and out of Panama City.
The lot features solar powered lights for security, but there are no guards. Registered riders can also get an emergency ride home if they stranded at work.
Participants saved more than 14,000 dollars in the Panhandle with the Park and Ride program last year.
