Fire Officials Urge Nightclub Safety

When you get on an airplane, one of the first things you do is look for all the exits in case of an emergency.

Local officials say to do the same when you go to a nightclub.

The Panama City Beach Fire Department says a game plan is important when going out to a nightclub.

Every year, the local fire inspector visits different businesses to make sure they're following the life safety code and not overcrowding nightclubs.

"When you're dealing with thousands of spring breakers, we rely on aid from Thomas, and west end, our fire departments. However, people knowing what to do in case of fires is very important," said Capt. Joseph Coco, PCB Fire Department.

The National Fire Protection Association recommends you take a look around and have a communication plan.
