Panama City commissioners decided against increasing the city's funding for the Bay County Transportation Planning Organization.
The Bay County TPO is asking Panama City for more than a $30,000 increase in funding for next year, but commissioners said they had some concerns about the operation of the Bay Towne Trolley System and they also believe the money should go to more than just trolleys.
"We're all a part of this and we sing kumbaya and then we come in and throw a bunch of money into it," said commissioner John Kady, "but I think approaching it from a business standing, it's about moving people. This type of thing is never gonna be successful if it's only about moving people that don't have cars."
The commission voted no to the increase. The city currently contributes more than $50,000 to the TPO.
