No Bond Set for Man Charged in Greenwood Murder

Marianna- Andrew Johnson was accused of stabbing his girlfriend, 25 year old Krista Stevenson to death in their greenwood home early Sunday morning.

Wednesday, County Judge Wade Mercer formally charged Johnson with an open count of murder.

Because the open count includes the possibility for the State to pursue a first degree charge, and because Johnson was already on state probation at the time of the murder, Mercer did not have the option to issue a bond.

News Channel 7 spoke with Johnson's mother, Vicki Phillips after the hearing who told us, "I want to let the family know we are deeply sorry. It was a great loss to both families and i just want to give them my condolence."

Johnson's next court date was tentatively set for June 4, but Mercer said that date could change based on whether the state chose to pursue a first degree murder charge, in which case, Johnson would go before a grand jury.
