OCSO Solve Cold Case

Okaloosa County Sheriff's Investigators say they've solved a murder case they weren't even investigating.

They, along with several other agencies, arrested 59-year old Garry Ray Lindsey Thursday at Lindsey's home in Milton.

Authorities say Lindsey is responsible for the murdered of a man in Lawrence County Alabama in February 2006.

Okaloosa County Investigators say they uncovered the information while following-up on one of their cold cases.

They've been looking for the person who killed 59-year old Leonard "Buddy" Phelps.

Phelps was found dead in the backyard of his business on October 2nd, 1981.

Phelps owned Phelps Brothers boat works off John Sims Parkway in Niceville.

Investigators say he was a pretty good business man and had money.

They believe Phelp's killer beat and shot him then ransacked the apartment above the business, looking for money.

Investigators have named Lindsey as a person of interest in Phelps' death, but have not charged him with that crime.
