PANAMA CITY BEACH-- Bay County Sheriff's Officials have charged a Panama City Beach Police Officer, who set off an armed stand-off Wednesday night.
Officials booked 43-year-old Jeff Heath into the Bay County Jail around 2:30 Friday afternoon on one count of shooting a firearm into a dwelling.
County Judge Joe Grammer immediately set Heath's bond at $10,000, which he posted, and got out of jail around 6:30 Friday evening.
Authorities say Heath was armed and intoxicated Wednesday night when he left his home in the Palm Cove subdivision and stood in the street.
Neighbors say he as acting erratically and seemed despondent, even suicidal.
When Bay County Sheriff's Deputies arrived, Heath retreated back into his home, still armed.
So the Sheriff's office SWAT team responded, and evacuated part of the neighborhood.
At some point investigators say Heath fired one shot that passed through the wall of his home and into the house next door.
Fortunately no one was hurt.
