Officials Investigating Attempted Murder in Defuniak Springs

DeFuniak Springs Police are asking for assistance in locating an attempted murder suspect.

Around 4:00 Wednesday night, police officials investigated a stabbing at 226 North Davis Lane in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.

The investigation led to the identification of Ronnie Lamont Phillips of 120 Bo Pete Manor Road in DeFuniak Springs.

Investigators have secured felony warrants for Phillips for burglary to an occupied dwelling while armed and attempted premeditated first degree murder.

Phillips is described as a 47 year old black male who is 5 foot 11 inches, 220 pounds, black hair, and brown eyes. Phillips recently had extensive dental work removing most of his teeth. It is believed that Phillips has fled the state and could be staying with family in Alabama. Phillips is considered armed and dangerous.

DeFuniak Springs Police are seeking the public’s assistance with any information leading to the location of Phillips.

Officials say they responded to 226 Davis Lane in DeFuniak Springs in reference to a 911 call of a person being stabbed.

Officers say the victim suffered multiple cuts and stab wounds.

The victim was treated on scene and airlifted by helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital of Pensacola Florida for further assessment.

The name of the victim has not yet been released, and police have not yet located the person of interest.
