Deputies say Alex Hill, 16, was at a swimming party with friends at 15 Japonica Lane in Shalimar when someone noticed him motionless at the bottom of the pool.

Bystanders pulled him out, called 9-1-1 and began administering CPR immediately. He was taken by EMS to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center where he was stabilized before being flown by medical helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.

Investigators say based on witness statements and the evidence at the scene, it’s believed Hill, who was last noticed on a raft in the deep end of the pool, may have struck his head on the side, leading to an accidental drowning.
