Plans for affordable housing in the Old Marie Hotel, are apparently dead.
Local developer Royal American, which owns the historic building at the corner of 5th Street and Harrison Avenue, dropped it's plans for renovation the structure into 80 units of low income senior housing.
The project met with a lot of opposition.
City officials said they didn't believe downtown needs more senior housing.
They say it would not fit in with their vision for revitalizing the downtown area.
Royal American officials say they will look for another site for the project.
Still no plans for the Marie Hotel.
