One Arrested for Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer

Tuesday, Deputy Lester Rodgers was on routine patrol northbound on South 2nd Street when he noticed a maroon Pontiac Grand Prix.

The vehicle description matched an anonymous tip that had come in through dispatch in reference to a wanted person.

27 year old Danny Wayne Dollar of Defuniak Springs was found hiding in the back floor board of the vehicle and had an active warrant for dealing in stolen property out of Walton County.

Deputy Rodgers ordered him out of the vehicle and Dollar quickly grabbed a knife and tried to push past the deputy.

Dollar took off on foot but Deputy Rodgers was able to grab him and a struggle in sued.

Dollar was placed under arrest and during a search on his person, a small bag of marijuana was found in his right front pocket.

Dollar is charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana not more than 20 grams.

Dollar also had an additional warrant for his arrest out of Okaloosa County.

Dollar was booked at the Walton County Department of Corrections.
