Anyone impacted by the BP Oil Spill now has less than a year to file a claim with the Deepwater Horizon Claims Center is a year away.
Claims Administrator Patrick Juneau wants to remind oil spill victims that the deadline is April 22, 2014.
“As per the Settlement Agreement, individuals, business and non-profit organizations have until April 22, 2014 to file an economic or property damage claim” said Juneau. “I feel this is part of my duty as Claims Administrator to inform the public of these important deadlines as they approach.”
The Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded on April 20, 1010, killing 11-works and spilling an estimated 210 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico.
Juneau said as of April 23, claimants have filed 156,978 claims. The Deepwater Claims Center has issued eligibility notices totaling $2,884,497,062.
“We are continuing the job of processing claims on a daily basis,” said Juneau.
